Roots & Fruits Fesitval

Posted On: June 18, 2019

The day started off with the ladies of WOW
promoting their group in the
Roots & Fruits Parade held in Oliver on Saturday, August 17, 2018.

This year WOW once again sponsored the Oliver’s Got Talent Show.

The funds were used for food, refreshments as well as
Thank You gifts for all the performers.

Everyone enjoyed the different talents of the many entries.

With assistance received from Oliver Community Arts Council, WOW was able to put on a High Tea at the Community Centre on Saturday afternoon.    To add to the ambiance of the Tea, a hat contest, with prizes, was held.   Many hats were created, with the assistance of a couple members of WOW.  More contestants arrived and enjoyed some tea, sandwiches and dessert, while hats were being judged for beauty, uniqueness and overall creativity.

Donations were again handed out to Maple Springs Bible Camp, Oliver Recreation Parks and Recreation and Desert Sun Counselling.

Mark Wilson, from Maple Springs Bible Camp, was presented with another donation from WOW to partner up with our sponsorship.  This organization provides fun-filled camping experiences that benefit them physically, mentally and spiritually. Mark informed us that approximately 50 campers enlisted last year with three families being able to use this sponsorship.

Desert Sun Counselling representative, Brittany,  also accepted WOW’s donation
as they continue with programs which provide safety and well being for all.

Katie from Oliver Parks & Recreation accepted the SUN FUN donation, which enables healthy activities for children during the summer.
Roots and Fruits Expo, a three day event, which includes an Oliver’s Got Talent Show, is also sponsored by WOW.

4th Annual Presentation Tea

Posted On: April 7, 2019

The 4th annual presentation tea was held on March 31, 2019 to celebrate the gifting to individuals and organizations from the fundraising efforts of the Women of Oliver for Women (WOW) group.  This year recipients were honoured with WOW’s version of the WOW Family Feud.  Teams were required to compete by answering questions like WOW’s Mission, who they support in the community, what community services have been done, what type of fundraisers and many other questions pertaining to the WOW group.  Fun was had by guests, recipients and members.  Winners of course were acknowledged.
